Political power struggles don’t help people
Thursday, 17th June 2021
• AT the most recent Fortune Green by-election selection for Labour candidates I was found wanting and was rejected by the three-member Labour interview panel (followed by a three-member appeal panel).
Isn’t it time to consider selecting candidates away from political considerations? I envisage selections by all-party (or altogether non-political) groups.
I suggest that elected local councillors should also be governed / controlled by all-party (or non-political) groups.
Political parties change their political lines at various times for various reasons, yet issues facing local residents remain constant. We also know that political parties do not shy away from being economical with the truth.
Power struggles between and within political parties should have no place in managing everyday life for people of various political persuasion or of none.
