POLICE are calling for help finding “two key witnesses” of a lorry collision that killed a pensioner last year.

Thomas Murphy, who lived in Maida Vale, died in Kilburn High Road in November 2023.

The 71-year-old, originally from Ireland, was formally identified at the time and his family have been informed, the Metropolitan Police Service said yesterday (Thursday).

The driver of the lorry, who was not arrested, stopped a short time after the collision and was spoken to by police. An inquest was opened and adjourned at Barnet Coroner’s Court.

Detective Sergeant Becca Collens, of the MPS serious collision investigation unit, said: “We have been unable to make contact with two key witnesses who provided details to officers at the scene. I am appealing for those two men to make contact with me. I also need to hear from anyone else who saw the incident but has yet to speak with police. I am keen to have witness accounts as well as CCTV material and other evidence available for the inquest.”

Any witnesses are asked to call 101 quoting CAD 4240/25Nov23.
