Police need to remove vehicles without number plates from our streets

• THE latest terror in Westminster reveals that the offender was evidently driving a car that did not have a front registration plate. I have seen many such vehicles around London and elsewhere.

Most were low-fronted cars being driven by young men, often noisily or at speed. Some have no number plates at the front, others lack them at the rear.

Many motorcars and motorbikes have no number plates whatsoever. We need to recognise that such vehicles can kill and injure innocent road users and that the offender can get easily away.

These can no longer regarded as harmless toys for “look at me” young drivers and riders. The age of innocence is now definitely over.

The police need to remove such vehicles from our streets to ensure the safety of all, especially the safety of pedestrians and cyclists, the most vulnerable of road users.
