A PLAQUE is set to mark the former home of women’s rights campaigner Emmeline Pankhurst and her suffragette daughters.

The Marchmont Association want the tribute to be erected at The Principal London hotel in Russell Square, a building constructed after the Pankhurst family’s former terraced home was demolished in 1894.

Chairman Ricci de Freitas said: “The time the Pankhursts spent in London is a very untold part of history as most people only associate the Pankhursts with Manchester.”

The plaque will read “Emmeline Pankhurst 1858-1928 and her daughters Christabel and Sylvia, Founders of the Suffragette Movement, lived in a house on this site 1888-1893.”
