People used to come here for food shopping

• I WOULD like to wholeheartedly endorse the points raised in the letter by Soho Society chair Tim Lord, (Save Soho’s supermarket, October 13).

The last thing Soho needs is the continuing erosion of a unique history and culture by yet more soulless, corporate, glass and steel, vacant office space. Nor do we need a “21st-century Bazaar concept”, whatever that is.

Over the years the relentless loss of grocery retail outlets, (not fast-food or sandwiches for tourists and office workers), has left some with the distinct impression residents in central London are gradually being “starved” out.

Increasingly I find myself travelling out of the area in order to buy groceries and other domestic essentials.

People used to come here for food shopping. While I realise that some have come to rely on home deliveries, I prefer to do my own shopping. It’s greener!
