KSA teachers on strike last week 

PARENTS have rallied behind primary school teachers at King Solomon Academy who staged a series of walk-outs over workloads.

Last week Westminster Extra revealed that the majority of primary teachers at the school in Lisson Grove will be leaving next year.

Jeff Bates, assistant secretary of the National Union of Teachers, said: “By the end of last Thursday we had over 120 parents signed up to a parent support group determined to end this cycle of disruption. I have never seen such support for striking teachers.”

The teachers said that they were constantly being given extra responsibilities without added time, leaving them with less to plan lessons and dedicate to their classes.

A spokesman for the ARK schools said: “King Solomon Academy values our staff and we have been working closely with them to address their concerns. Our ambitious plans include improvements suggested by the staff. We’re looking forward to putting these into practice in the new school year.”
