• LABOUR Westminster councillor Liza Begum regards the council as “inhumane” because there is a long waiting list for four-bedroom properties, (Councillor who lost mother and sister to Covid: ‘Homes crisis is killing people’, November 19).

As the typical family home most of the population will have known is three beds – parents’ room, boys’ bedroom, girls’ bedroom – many of us may wonder why public money has ever been used to subsidise properties of more than three bedrooms.

Overcrowding is the product of behaviour, not the responsibility of the local authority.
