Our differences should be appreciated

‘I also prefer to speak, work, and interact, with fellow human beings’
• I WOULD like to thank your reader P Martin for their defence of the simple life and of our right to have more than one choice, and not just the one driven merely by digital technology so-called “advances”, which seems too simplistic a way and not enough to meet our needs, (Technological changes raise issues we have never encountered before, February 29).
Human beings are so much more interesting and complex.
I was so happy to learn of the millions of people who, like myself, want the right to have more than one option about how to live our lives, including various ways to communicate with people, accessing support services, banking, purchasing goods, etc.
I also prefer to speak, work, and interact, with fellow human beings.
No one should be discriminated against for being different, which includes thinking and preferring to do things differently.
No one should be allowed to take away what seems our basic human right to have a choice.
In this day and age, where the terms “inclusivity and diversity” seem so crucially important and relevant, and when we are becoming more aware of and learning about individuality and intersectionality, we must make sure that our individual differences are appreciated and respected so that we can create a more inclusive and happier society.
It does not make sense in any way to have just one way of doing things in any aspect of life when human beings are so wonderfully diverse.
Do we really want to crush our natural creativity by being “bulldozed” with “only” technology? We are all so delightfully different in the way we think about, feel and experience life.
And thank goodness for that!
