Online consultations can’t replace seeing the doctor

‘The internet may be good for lots of things but will never replace people’
• IT’S been over a year now since we in the Regent’s Park area were allowed to just walk into our GP surgery.
If we are lucky enough to see a doctor we still have to stand outside whatever the weather, no shelter when it’s been raining or snowing.
Only ring the bell once and wait, it can seem a long time before someone comes out to get you.
We have two reasonable size waiting areas which they could at least let two people wait inside. As lockdown eases, and vaccines are now readily available, surely they could let us wait inside.
Still we have to wait for a phone call, up to 10 days sometimes, that’s after we have explained everything to the receptionist; or do everything on the internet or send a picture of whatever part of your body you’re concerned about.
There are still a lot of people who do not wish to use the internet or even have a smartphone or iPhone but doctors and hospitals think we should be using them.
Nothing is the same as seeing and talking to a doctor. The internet may be good for lots of things but will never replace people.
