BUKAYO Saka has set his sights on scoring his first ever senior hat-trick for Arsenal and, with his current hot streak in front of goal, you wouldn’t bet against the in-form winger achieving the feat this weekend when Newcastle roll into town.

Saka has been in sensational form, scoring back-to-back doubles against Burnley and West Ham. The Gunners failed to register a single shot on goal on Wednesday night as they were condemned to a last-gasp 1-0 defeat away to Porto in the Champions League.

But in the Premier League, the north Londoners just can’t stop scoring and have found the back of the net 21 times in their past five outings.

Arsenal will be looking to make it six league wins in a row tomorrow (Saturday) evening when they entertain the Magpies at the Emirates Stadium. And Saka would love nothing more than to silence the Toon Army with a timely treble.

“I’m enjoying my football, but obviously I need to keep focused,” said the England international after Arsenal’s 5-0 win at Burnley on Saturday. “Of course I’m happy to score two in a row, and hopefully the third one will come soon.

“It’s coming. It’s coming, but I need to be patient.”

Saka’s latest brace took the 22-year-old’s overall club tally to 53 goals. It’s little wonder, then, that the Hale End product is playing with such a massive smile on his face.

Acknowledging the away support at Turf Moor, Saka has every reason to be confident that the Gunners can continue their winning run in the league this weekend.

“It was a lot of fun out there. I really enjoyed it, and it’s nice to see the fans coming up with new chants and stuff. I just loved it, so I enjoyed it.

“The boss told us we’re the first Arsenal team to win five in a row at the start of the year, so it’s a nice achievement, and we’ll definitely build momentum going forward.”

Mikel Arteta once again tipped “strange” Saka to get even better as he praised the effort that his star asset puts in on the training pitch.

“To see forward players, wingers with a level of consistency and numbers he has, is something really strange to find, but it’s not a coincidence, that’s for sure. When you look at him every single day, the way he trains, the way he applies himself, the qualities that he has, and he can do more.

“We try with our players to make them unpredictable. I’m sure the opponents are looking at us a lot, and we have to find ways to create them problems. He [Saka] has got this ability [to be unpredictable], and he trains a lot in many different situations in and around the box.”
