MORE than 30,000 cricket fans packed into Lord’s in St John’s Wood on Sunday to watch two pulsating conclusions in The Hundred.

The women’s final proved a one-sided affair as the Northern Superchargers sealed a seven-wicket win over Southern Brave to capture the title for the first time.

The Leeds-based side raced to 119-3 with 12 balls to spare after restricting the previously unbeaten Brave to a modest total of 115-6 from their 100-ball innings.

The men’s final was a more tense showdown, albeit with a somewhat predictable outcome.

Oval Invincibles stepped out at Lord’s as clear favourites against Trent Rockets. And the reigning champions more than lived up to their billing, with Will Jacks smashing 72 off 41 balls – the highest individual score in a men’s final – as the south Londoners ended their innings on 168-5.

The Rockets’ reply was restricted to 142-8 to earn Invincibles a 26-run victory, and with it their third straight Hundred title triumph.
