MYLES Lewis-Skelly is living the dream – and he wants more.

The 18-year-old Hale End academy product delighted Arsenal supporters this week when he signed a new long-term deal at the club, putting pen to paper on what is believed to be a five-year contract up to the summer of 2030.

The news comes following a breakthrough season which saw the humble teenager firmly establish himself as a fans’ favourite.

“I’m so proud and happy. I know those words are simple, but I think they sum up how I feel signing for this club,” Lewis-Skelly told Arsenal.com. “I’m a fan, and it’s like a dream come true.

“I’ve embodied the values of Hale End and come through.

“I’ve still got a lot of years ahead of me, so if I can keep staying humble and being a good person, that’s the most important thing to me.

“I know I’ve taken a lot of experience from the games; the positive moments and the mistakes that I’ve made. I’m definitely more ready now for next season. I just want to keep learning and keep improving.”

Lewis-Skelly enjoyed plenty of highlights throughout his opening 39 appearances for Mikel Arteta’s first-team, including scoring his first goal for the club in a 5-1 win over rivals Manchester City.

And when he lined up against Monaco back in December, he became the youngest player to start a Champions League game for Arsenal since Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in 2011.

He also became the youngest player to score on his England debut when he found the net in their 2-0 win over Albania in March.

Picking his own unforgettable moments so far, the left-back, who was more recognised as a central midfielder in his academy days, said: “First, it’s just the manager putting trust in me. Without him seeing me as a left-back, I wouldn’t be here, so I’m fully grateful and forever grateful to him.

“In terms of on the pitch, I’ll say the north London derby and my grandma being there. I’m an Arsenal fan, so I know how much it means.

“I’ve had a lot of learning experiences, [and] I’ve come across ultimately good moments for my career.

“I just want to keep learning, and I feel more prepared now going into the new season.”
So what do the coming years look like for the trophy-chasing teenager?

“I want a legacy. I want to win everything there is to win in the game. I want to win trophies on the biggest stages whilst being a person that’s always learning and stays grounded, which is so important.”

Offering a few words to his fellow Gooners, he added: “Just thank you for having my back for everything. Keep staying with us. I know you will, and we’re going to bring glory to this club.”
