Names on the Overground – some suggestions
Thursday, 13th April 2023
• REGARDING the proposed names for individual lines on the London Overground, the name Goblin or Gobline seems already to be the preferred label for the Gospel Oak to Barking line.
Next we learn that the Harlequin line has been suggested for the service between Harrow and Queen’s Park. Since Harlequin’s love was for a lady called Columbine, how about that name too?
This could be applied to the route via Hoxton, for it passes near to the ancient Columbia Market. Other names that might be used for Overground lines include Acton, Brunel, Olympia and Stephenson.
