• I READ your Cycling Special, August 17, with interest, but was absolutely flabbergasted by the nonsense spouted out by Mike Van Erp, (CyclingMikey: ‘I don’t hate bad drivers – I hate the bad behaviours’).

So he records bad behaviour by drivers does he – has he ever considered recording the disgraceful behaviour of his fellow cyclists?

Obviously not and, anyway, they are all anonymous criminals as there is no recourse.

He points out drivers on their phones, jumping red lights, and general lack of due care and attention.

I very rarely witness car drivers carrying out these activities but every day witness scores of cyclists on their phones, jumping red lights, cycling the wrong way down one-way streets, and cycling on pavements.

These vigilantes like Mr Van Erp should concentrate their efforts on educating fellow cyclists, some of whom travel well above the 20mph speed limit and can cause serious, if not fatal, accidents as well as motorists.

And I hope he wasn’t cycling in those flip flops he was wearing. Surely that needs too be reported!
