Maiden Lane station was not near Covent Garden
Thursday, 10th December 2020

Historian Christian Wolmar at the refurbished St Pancras
• THE Maiden Lane station referred to in Peter Gruner’s review of Christian Wolmar’s latest railway book ‘Cathedrals of Steam: How London’s Great Stations Were Built – And How They Transformed the City’, is just north of King’s Cross, (It’s hats off to the capital’s great stations, Review, November 26).
No surface railway has ever gone anywhere near Covent Garden.
