Day of drama for talented teams as youth league stars make it a fitting final day of campaign

United Dragons won in dramatic fashion in a nail-biting Under-12s 7v7 B Cup final against ELA Juve

SCORES of talented young footballers supplied drama and excitement fitting of the final day of the season in the Regent’s Park Youth League on Saturday.

Highgate Rangers won the Under-12s 9v9 B1 Cup

One of the most nail-biting matches came in the Under-12s age group where goalkeeper Bobby Venville inspired United Dragons to victory over ELA Juve in the 7v7 B Cup final. Having made a string of outstanding saves to ensure the game finished goalless, the shot-stopper then made three more stunning saves in the penalty shootout.

But Venville wasn’t done working his magic, as the youngster also scored from the spot, along with teammates Horatio Portas Rickey and Aryton Slater, to earn the Dragons a 3-1 win.

FC Marylebone lift the girls’ Under-14s 9v9 Cup

The Dragons were denied a double on the day after they were beaten 1-0 by Camden Town Youth FC in a trilling Under-11s B Cup final. It took just the one goal to settle matters with Dan McGovern scoring what proved to be the winner.

There was double delight for the squad from Queen’s Park Blacktip Sharks. They beat Brent Cross FA 5-1 to win the Under-12s 9v9 A2 Cup. Amede Wilson bagged a brace, while Wolfe Lewis, Harry Robinson and Ronnie Arbuthnot were also all on target.

Camden Town Youth FC won the Under-11s B Cup final thanks to a goal from Dan McGovern

The Sharks then toppled TGFC in a crucial league decider. This time Lewis led the goal charge with a hat-trick, while Wilson, Robinson and Luca Rapaccioli also all scored in a 6-0 win that saw the Sharks seal the Under-12s 9v9 title.

Elsewhere, skipper Leo Lasserson capped an unforgettable season by leading Highgate Rangers to glory in the Under-12s 9v9 B1 Cup.

In the girls’ Under-14s 9v9 Cup final a single strike from Rialda Pacolli earned FC Marylebone a 1-0 win over Highgate Rangers. The victory completed a magnificent league and cup double for FC Marylebone.

The girls’ Under-16s division was also settled after Camden Youth FC toppled rivals Regent’s Park Spartans in a tense title decider. Tilly Talbot grabbed a goal and an assist, setting up Kate Farrer, as Camden sealed a 2-0 victory.
