• In Lucy Prebble’s The Effect, two volunteers, Connie and Tristan, fall for each other during an antidepressant trial. They wonder if their chemistry is real or a side effect of the drug. Doctors Lorna and Toby oversee the experiment, their disagreements exposing fractures in their own relationship.
