ON April 24 at 7pm, the Cockpit Theatre in collaboration with PEN International, will broadcast Beckett’s Outbursts, the next in its monthly series of readings giving voice to dissident writers, past and present. A selection of comic and bleak texts exploring the human condition from Watt, Company, The Unnamable and Molloy, chosen by the late John Calder Samuel Beckett’s friend and publisher. Juliet Stevenson leads an all-star female cast in the online revival of Steven Carl McCasland’s dinner party drama, Little Wars, set on the eve of war and celebrating exceptional women of the 20th century. From April 23, tickets are on sale for the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre’s 2021 season, including extended runs of Romeo and Juliet (June 17-July 24), directed by Kimberley Sykes, and Carousel (July 31-September 25), directed by Timothy Sheader. Dragons and Mythical Beasts, for ages 3+, will now open on August 13. The theatre will also present a co-production with Unicorn Theatre of Anansi the Spider for ages 3-7. Brought vividly to life by Justin Audibert, the production – consisting of three classic West African and Caribbean tales about the spider hoaxster – will play daytime performances on the theatre’s lawn, July 7-24. openairtheatre.com

Pleasance Islington will reopen its doors on May 17 with a busy programme of comedy, theatre, drag and musicals.
