• In Invasion! An Alien Musical, Johnny Fox is chasing his dream job at a magical theme park. But when his childhood toy comes to life, Johnny discovers his workplace is run by alien invaders. Billed as a toe-tapping tale of courage, family and intergalactic conspiracy. 9pm, July 31-Aug 3, Camden People’s Theatre
• Using subtitling and Sign Supported English, Opera Kipling presents an innovative re-imagining of Rossini’s classic opera La Cenerentola, based on the Brothers Grimm fairytale, Cinderella. A fun night is promised with an 80s twist, plenty of neon and fantastic music. 7.30pm/5pm, Aug 3-6, Upstairs at the Gatehouse
• After her PhD thesis is rejected, Faustine accidentally summons the demon Mephistophilis, who is after her soul. The end of female biological oppression is nigh. Will she sign? Faustine is a one-act, dark comedy that explores gender bias in medical research, endometriosis and female pain. 9pm/4pm, Aug 2-5. Brand-new historical drama, The Making of Frederick the Great, is inspired by the true-life story of the military warlord and queer King. 4pm, every Sun to Aug 27, Cockpit Theatre
• Phrases is Lewys Holt’s one-man multimedia and spoken word performance. A reflective piece that merges PowerPoint presentation, dance, stand-up and private conversation to create a humorous yet unnerving 45-minute show. 4.30pm, Aug 11-13, Hen and Chickens
• Asian Girls in Therapy is a K-pop and Bollywood fusion of joy, heartbreak, humour and depression that centres on Kiran and Cheon’s turbulent yet farcical mental health journey. 7pm, Aug 13-16. Brown Girl Noise is a coming-of-age rebellious celebration about four brown girls finding their feet on British streets. 9pm, Aug 13-16, Hope Theatre
• The Vagina Monologues written by V (Eve Ensler) and first staged almost 30 years ago, is based on interviews with more than 200 women from different ethnicities, social class and religion, about their sexuality, trauma, questions, joy and pain. Issues that remain just as relevant today. Performed by Juliet Prew, Cara Kiri and Aurore Padenou. 5pm/9pm/7pm, Aug 12-15. A dark comedy, Self-Help is inspired by the meteoric rise of the toxic masculinity influencers dominating platforms like TikTok. Flicking mindlessly through his phone, John Scott feels compelled to listen to a charismatic man claiming to have all the answers for only $25 a month. 7.30pm, Aug 25-26. Canal Café Theatre
• Finally, a head up for Little Angel’s first ever Children’s Puppet Festival from Aug 2-Sept 3. This vibrant programme will showcase a range of puppetry by some of the most exciting UK and international companies making theatre for young audiences today.
