• I LOVE our diverse, multi-cultural city. If you’re looking for theatre with an international dimension, you’re spoilt for choice. Rendezvous in Bratislava is at Camden People’s Theatre from Friday to Sunday and promises to be really special. Looking back at her grandfather’s life, Miriam Sherwood decided to make a show about him combining music, a four-piece British Slovak band, comedy, cabaret and original 1940s photographs and recordings. • THE Gate is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. One of the few remaining pub theatres, this powerhouse always punches above its weight. This week sees the opening of Faces in the Crowd by acclaimed Mexican writer Valeria Luiselli. Adapted and directed by Ellen McDougall it’s billed as a multi-layered story about identity, poetry, and nationality. More details on 020 7229 0706. https://www.gatetheatre.co.uk/
• YELLOW Earth Theatre was formed in 1995 by five British East Asian actors to create work that explored their cultural heritage. It’s your last chance to catch Fix, by Julie Tsang, produced in association with Unbroken Theatre and at the Pleasance until February 1. Kevin, a washing machine repairman, is inexplicably drawn to an old woman and her house in the woods. Directed by Jen Tan, it’s described as a dark and unsettling psychological thriller.
