Look what privatisation did to the Royal Mail

‘In some parts of W9 it’s been no deliveries at all’
• I READ the letter from “Penny Black” (A slow delivery, January 28) with much interest as she suggests slower service by the Royal Mail.
In some parts of W9 it’s been no deliveries at all, particularly over the Christmas period when people like to post their cards. The reason is many post boxes are blocked or unfit to use even by the Royal Mail standards.
Is there anywhere else with so many post boxes blocked up as from Bristol Gardens to Sutherland Avenue?
Or a post box that was condemned by the Royal Mail last May (pictured far right) as a health and safety risk yet still has not been replaced along Warwick Avenue?
‘Post boxes are blocked or unfit to use even by the Royal Mail standards’
Since privatisation of the Royal Mail – a long cherished institution for over 500 years – under Vincent Cable, in the coalition government of 2010 to 2015, it’s quite clear that cost is emphasised more than quality of service.
And you only have to look at the service in W9 to see that clearly, as they are not prepared to acknowledge the problems ever via their customer complaints procedures. Little Venice needs its post boxes.
