Exhaust diesel fumes

• DESPITE growing public concern about pollution and its effects on our health and wellbeing, little concern seems so far to have been directed towards motorbikes.

We are all aware that their fumes can remain with us long after their riders have sped by.

Some pollutants can be absorbed through the skin. Others can cause asthma, with one in every seven children now suffering from the condition.

Research tells us that air pollution causes brain cancer, for exposure to nano-particles means that these carry carcinogenic chemicals into the brain.

Yet scant attention has so far been addressed to the effects of motorbikes upon our bodies, for the motorbike industry is most lucrative as well as being speed and youth oriented.
