‘The future is coming on two wheels’

• THE mayor and Transport for London intend to encircle central London with cycle lanes.

They are offering a “consultation” on the Park Lane cycle lane, which they clearly intend to keep in place despite a perfectly suitable cycle lane running parallel in Hyde Park.

These lanes, like the Lancaster Gate one, add to traffic queues and vehicle congestion which in turn create the “toxic air” that our lacklustre mayor is determined to reduce. That is about the only policy he has had for the past two years.

The “have-your-say” consultation may be as ineffective as the one for the No 414 bus route. This route was substantially shortened despite overwhelming objections from bus users. By all means have your say but the future is coming on two wheels.
