‘Under the Tories home insulation rates have plummeted with millions of families paying more because of this’
• LIKE every community in Britain, people here in the Cities of London and Westminster are facing a cost of living crisis with rocketing energy bills.
Twelve years of failure by the Conservatives to insulate our homes is one of the reasons bills are so high. Under the Tories home insulation rates have plummeted with millions of families paying more because of this.
The United Kingdom has the least energy efficient homes in Europe. Too many working people and pensioners live in draughty, cold, homes with high heating costs.
If the Conservatives were serious about cutting energy bills, they could start right now, by delivering the “Warm Homes Plan” that Labour has called for.
As bills rise for millions of families here, analysis from the Labour Party has shown that at least 60,935 households in the area would benefit from the party’s proposal to upgrade millions of homes.
A proper national mission – to make every home in the country warm, well-insulated, and cheaper to heat within a decade – would help save 19million families over £1,000 on their bills, as well as creating good construction jobs in our community.
Recent research from PwC found that up to 580,000 jobs would be supported annually from building retrofits, with higher levels of energy efficiency requiring more workers.
Labour will deliver the “Warm Homes Plan” Westminster needs, as part of our “Green Prosperity Plan” to make Britain a clean energy superpower, delivering lower bills, jobs in the green industries of the future, tackling the climate crisis, and making Britain energy independent once and for all.
