CAMDEN Fringe is a great opportunity to see experimental and brand new theatre at venues across the borough: here’s some of the shows you can catch this week.
• Pageant, a musical comedy about the world of beauty pageants, is on at the Camden Irish Centre until August 26.
• At the Canal Cafe Theatre from August 11-20 is Don’t Blame The Bankers… $toopid.
• Nothing To Perform is the story of three caretakers who wrote, rehearsed and produced a play that no one will ever see – it’s on at the Cockpit from August 11-13.
• Re: Production, about a scientist on the cusp of a new IVF discovery and the difficult decisions she faces about her own fertility, is on at the Etcetera Theatre until August 13.
• Earth – A Children’s Story for Adults, by Arthalia Theatre Company, an autobiographical fairy tale narrated by Earth herself – on from August 16 for five days at the Hen and Chickens.
• Between a Man and a Woman, about the behind-closed-doors reality of Polly and Tom’s marriage, is on at the Lion & Unicorn Theatre until August 12.
• Fourth Monkey’s Women of Greece: Pandora, exploring themes of temptation, misogyny and femininity is at the Monkey House from August 17.
• Astronaut, a spoken word, multimedia theatre piece by Joe Wright that focuses on the current homelessness crisis across Ireland, is on at the Moors Bar Theatre from August 16-18.
• Dan Horrigan’s Reprehensible Men 2, cautionary tales and other stories from men who should know better, is on at the Tristan Bates Theatre from August 14-19.
• Dancehall Sweethearts, a one-act play that opens during the sectarian war tearing Northern Ireland apart in the 1970s, is at Upstairs at the Gatehouse from August 11-13.
