• IN the wake of Monday night’s game (England’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Bulgaria), I’ve heard two conversations around how dreadful the Bulgarians are.

I know just two Bulgarians and they are among the most civilised, inclusive and decent people you could hope to meet.

We mustn’t let the atrocious racism of a minority on Monday bring the worst out in ourselves. We have quite enough of our own bigots already.
