Isn’t it time to say there are too many fireworks?

• MUST we suffer from fireworks being set off at all hours of the day and night? It appears thus, judging by the loud banging noises that we can hear on a daily basis.
Bonfire Night was a typical example, it seemed to kick off around 11pm in my area, and lasted until after midnight.
Whether some of this was an example of anti-social behaviour is a moot point. But it’s high time that this activity was curtailed. I have nothing against Bonfire Night but some people don’t know where to draw the line.
Watching fireworks can be hugely entertaining and enjoyable but many people have to rise early for work, presumably, and could take exception to being disturbed by banging in the early hours.
I have been listening attentively to radio stations when this topic is often discussed and debated. There is the additional fact that domestic pets are terrified by fireworks.
This setting off of fireworks should end at a socially acceptable time but I am informed that it’s within the law on the November 5 that fireworks may be allowed to be used up to midnight. Similarly over the new year period when this is allowed up to 1am.
Surely there is a case here for some common sense to be used. Fireworks used to be only on sale around November 5 but apparently it’s commonplace for these to be on sale at any time. This is part of the problem.
