In the virus crisis we have been let down by the churches

Church window

‘What is the purpose of these churches if they’re shut in a real crisis?’

• CHURCHES have let down their followers very badly during this coronavirus crisis.

Even my own church will not open their doors till September. This is a disgrace.

It challenges everything they stand for – that is faith and belief over fear. It states in the Bible “fear not” over a thousand times.

If my church had the will they could have opened all through the crisis and would have benefited their attenders greatly, with obviously stringent precautions.

The feeling and seeing of togetherness in church would have had a real meaningful affect on their mental wellbeing.

It would help maintain a strong immune system, essential in fighting any disease. Mental wellbeing is going to be a major factor.

In this Covid-19 situation fear, anxiety, depression and isolation, undermine our immune system.

Belief / faith, in a welcoming spiritual environment at least twice a week, instead of online services that not everybody has access to, could help to alleviate those isolated real concerns.

The churches were opened throughout the two wars, with definite benefit to the morale of the nation.

They were essential… it makes one think, what is the purpose of these churches if they’re shut in a real crisis?

They should have opened up in the name of who or what you believe in…
