• YOUR report about feeding – or not feeding – birds reminded me of some amusing graffiti I saw years ago at a tube station, (Bye-law to stop bird-feeding in parks, January 9).

The official notice read: “Please do not feed the pigeons.”

Underneath that someone had written: “But I like pigeons!”

Under that, in a different hand: “But I don’t like pigeon shit!”

Under that, different hand again: “Well, don’t eat it then!”
