If stop and search is used for no good reason it undermines confidence in the police

• MAYOR of London Sadiq Khan speaks about politicians “sitting on their hands” while the landscape changes all around them, in his call on social media giants to do more to tackle hate speech and fake news.
In September 2015 he promised to drive down stop and search by Met police if elected. “Overuse of stop and search can have a dramatic effect on communities. It undermines public confidence in our police if Londoners are being stopped and searched for no good reason,” he said.
The term “acid crime” is not in use yet. And if Met police are not dealing with the escalating levels of street violence, that too becomes a public confidence issue.
