Challenge Cup glory boys The Hill Under-10s

PROUD parents snapped away like crazed paparazzi on Friday after seeing their boys capture cups in a frantic night of finals in the Camden and Islington Youth Football League.

The Hill’s hotshot Raphy Chester proved that lightning really can strike twice when he scored the only goal of the game against CM Futsal to lead his team to glory in the Under-10s Challenge Cup final.

It’s the second time this season that striker Raphy has been the match-winner after scoring in a 1-0 win over Totally Goal in the final of the Camden and Regent’s Park Youth Football League Under-11s Challenge Cup.

Newcomers Mill Hill Youth capped the perfect debut season at Market Road when they came from a goal down to beat rivals Primrose Hill 3-1 and wrap up a league and cup double.

Having already been crowned champions of the Under-12s ‘A’ Division, goals from star player Lucas Radley, Jack Richards and Lucas Lloyd saw all the players celebrating yet again – this time with the Liboria Risveglia Cup.

Invincibles Westway were also celebrating a memorable league and cup double after dominating the Under-15s age group.

They were in unstoppable form in the league, winning all 22 of their games.

In fact, the only game that Westway didn’t win this season was Friday’s cup final against St John’s Wood, which had to be settled by penalties after finishing goalless in normal time.

Goalkeeper Luke Camacho ensured that the nail-biting shoot-out went Westway’s way as he made a string of fine saves, while Lonit Talla and Sean O’Sullivan kept their cool from the spot to seal a 2-1 victory.

There was some consolation for St John’s Wood as midfielder Matthew Knight was voted man-of-the-match.

Islington’s new deputy mayor councillor Dave Poyser and his consort, Helen Spall, showed their support for the Camden and Islington Youth Football League by handing out all the medals and trophies.
