Hill idea seems like another ‘Garden Bridge’

Impression of how the temporary hill might look
• ACCORDING to your news report (Go-ahead on the hill, April 2), the city council has budgeted almost a million quid for an absurd 80-foot high heap of earth at Marble Arch.
It has all the makings of a mini-Garden Bridge fiasco.
If people really want to look at the roofs of passing buses, then it might be rather cheaper to put a balustrade round the top of Marble Arch itself, buy a decent ladder, and leave it at that.
Think what that much money could do to improve lots of the existing open spaces in Westminster.
Alternatively, since the borough directly abuts Primrose Hill – even though the hill itself is on the Camden side of the boundary – that money could employ teams of people to stop the raucous all-night parties currently taking place on Primrose Hill, which keep local people (from both boroughs) awake night after night.
