Heat or cold, the elderly suffer and die
Thursday, 23rd August 2018
• IN Europe most homes have wooden shutters to external windows. In summer they open windows and close their shutters which makes homes comfortable.
Here, with sun through glass, even with inside blinds and curtains, we cook. The elderly suffer most. In the coldest weather we had no heating and, come the heatwave, we have more heat than we want.
So, tenants died in the cold – the rest in the heat.
