HS2: ‘The destruction, pollution and disruption will continue and so will the damage to us all’

• FURTHER to my letter (Test people for harm caused by HS2 works, May 4), having had no response whatsoever from the Chief Medical Officer Professor Sir Chris Whitty, Sir Keir Starmer MP or Camden Council leader Georgia Gould, all hoping to benefit from involvement with HS2 no doubt, I note that the government are now asking for people’s views on what should be included in their new strategy for major health issues.

And as the asthma and lung organisation points out, this is a great opportunity to tell the secretary of state for health what needs to change in respiratory diagnosis and care to prevent people from developing lung disease.

What an irony, with HS2s’ unprecedented demolitions and building works and mass deforestation on top; which would most definitely have caused and will cause further lung problems in the future, and lung disease all over the country, especially in Camden.

So, please, have your say on government respiratory plans at info@asthmaandlung.org.uk or tel 0300 222 5800 or indeed, write directly to the secretary of state for health and social care. If nothing else, for the sake of our children and future generations.

When HS2 comes back to Camden in two years’ time, the destruction, pollution and disruption will continue and so will the damage to us all, which will be unstoppable.
