Harrington: While we muck around with AI funnies…
Harrington meets Gulliver on a park bench
Friday, 13th June

‘Oh you do go on, Gulliver!’
THE jobcalypse continues apace! Us scribes were once told to beat the AI revolution by learning to code, only for the coding clubs to be told that AI can do their jobs too.
However well we may write, however important our investigations may be, journalists are now competing to be seen on an internet suffocated by robot-written, click-driven but passable to most articles.
When most of us get the chance to use AI, however, we just can’t help be silly. Google Veo’s video creation service launched in the UK and the first thing we asked it to do was create what it thought Harrington would look like on a park bench arguing with his Camden New Journal columnist counterpart John Gulliver about who wrote the more interesting pieces.
It raised a laugh – Harrington looks like neither man depicted – but it’s a distraction from the fastening revolution for all of us, whatever job you do.
That park bench beckons.
