I AM sure many of you will be looking forward to watching the big The Traitors finale on BBC this evening, Friday.

But it was a tasty depiction of the show’s host Claudia Winkleman that caught my eye this week.

A cake made in her honour by Keith Scovell had gone viral on Instagram after she posted a pic of it on her birthday.

It is a slightly terrifying image of her head, using TicTacs for teeth.

I caught up with amateur baker Mr Scovell this week, who told me he had started getting requests from other celebrities to make similar creations, including Ant and Dec and Dermot O’Leary.

He told me: “I started out only baking friends and family cakes. They’ve always been a bit quirky and a bit odd.

“I did a Taylor Swift one for my niece’s birthday. It didn’t really look like her. My family said ‘oh it’s so funny you should put it online’.”

He posted pictures of his anthropomorphic sponges on Facebook, which got shared elsewhere.

“I thought, OK, people are taking credit for my work… I should work out how to use TikTok,” Mr Scovell said.

The Winkleman cake – which he made as he “adores” her, along with the wink murder game show she hosts – “hit the big time”, he said. “People were like ‘is it Noel Fielding? Is it Claudia? Is it both?’ There were very few negative reactions.”

All of Mr Scovell’s cakes use teeth, which has become a “running joke” but there’s a reason behind it.

He said: “I was born with a huge hearing impairment so throughout my life I’ve lip read. So I’m always focusing on people’s mouths.

“You could make a cake look exactly like somebody but I love seeing people smile and laugh so the comedy side is it for me.

“When I’m in the supermarket I’m always looking for what I could use to make nice teeth, like marshmallows or candy sticks.”

Mr Scovell has lived in Kentish Town for the past 15 years and said: “It’s so central for everything. You can be in the West End in a good 15 minutes. We’ve got some great charity shops and local businesses in the town which is rare.”

Would he like to open a bakery in NW5?

“I’m not sure how children walking past would react. It would be a dream to keep going and making people laugh.

“My cakes – I’d love to say they are of Bake Off standard, they are not. They’re literally just ‘Vicky’ sponges.”
