Harrington: The limeys are here to stay
Green and white hire company is impossible to miss in our capital city

IT’S not immediately obvious what’s most ubiquitous in modern life: salted caramel, Romesh Ranganathan or Lime bikes.
But the green and white hire company is certainly impossible to miss in our capital city, whether its blocking up a pavement or falling like dominoes in an overflowing parking bay.
This week, even the entrance to Victoria rail station was being hampered – see picture – by a discarded limey.
The company’s reps take their punishment in council meetings when asked about control and safety, but after all’s said and done, they know they’ll keep getting their contracts renewed.
The London that can afford to pay its expensive hire rates has simply fallen in love with the ease of these e-bikes.
It is also this more affluent side of London that has got used to parking and doing what it likes.
