COMIC Mo Gilligan has been chosen as the safe pair of hands to host The Brits as it switches to a big Saturday night shindig at the O2 this weekend.

As a former pupil of Pimlico School – now Pimlico Academy – he credited a former drama teacher, referenced only as Mrs Simpson, for getting him to channel his class clown persona into something more productive.

“I was easily distracted, but she could see I was interested in hands-on stuff like performing,” he told the Standard. “She was the first teacher to encourage me and that’s all it took.”

You never forget a good teacher, as it was pointed out several times during last week’s industrial action and march.
