ON the subject of the Liberal Democrats not helping themselves, Harrington has been surprised the party didn’t do it all could to get former mayoral candidate Luisa Porritt running in a target seat somewhere.

She was overlooked when she applied for a candidacy in Sutton and I cannot profess to know the ins and outs of the party’s internal processes over there.

But the Lib Dems are in obvious need of a bit punch to make the most of the opportunity to make significant gains from the Tories around the country.

From my time reporting in Camden, it was clear Ms Porritt, who is also a former MEP, could keep opponents on their toes.

As she helps others on the doorstep, she’s a wasted asset.
