TRANSPORT for London’s poster campaign asking tube users not to blare videos and music out from their phones has been roundly mocked.

Of course very few people will be stopped or fined for doing it, but what else do the critics really expect Sadiq Khan to do about this irritating everyday menace?

Do we want the Mayor of London to order police to stop doing “proper work” and chase down the earphoneless rebels, carriage by carriage.

It would probably be cheaper to simply hand everybody free headphones as they enter a station.
Or – here’s a small thought – perhaps the phone manufacturing companies could go back to providing people with them when they buy a phone like in the good old days.

Somehow we allow the new iPhone to come with less in the box at every iteration – and celebrate the launch of a new one regardless.

We don’t need seven different camera lenses on the back of phones, we need a pair of earphones, headphones and a charger would be nice too. You get the impression that Apple makes a lot of money on replacement wires and certainly does on the need to buy pods as an extra.
But think how they could help society by providing a little more.
