A FEW days ago George W Bush said that Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky was the Churchill of our time.

“Fine, but do either of them have a clue about who Churchill was and what he did?” asks Tariq Ali.

The activist and historian, who lives in Camden Square, has written a book about Winston Churchill, dismantling the myths surrounding the wartime leader.

There are more than 1,600 books about him, Tariq notes, but none will be so critical.

Winston Churchill: His Times, His Crimes (Verso) was launched at the Swiss Church in Endell Street, Covent Garden, on Wednesday night.

“I’ll make sure Zelensky is sent a copy when the Russian edition (his first language) is published later this year,” added Tariq.
