FOUR different goalscorers, sealing a sixth win out of six: it’s safe to say that Jonas Eidevall’s Arsenal couldn’t have asked for a better start to their season in the Women’s Super League.
Eidevall said he “likes to see a lot of goals” and at the King Power Stadium on Sunday his players duly delivered as Frida Maanum, Caitlin Foord, Steph Catley and Stina Blackstenius all found the back of the net in what was a routine 4-0 victory over league strugglers Leicester City.
The record-extending 14th consecutive league win – a remarkable run dating back to last season – saw the Gunners take over at the top of the table after the only other side still boasting a 100 per cent start to the campaign, Manchester United, were beaten 3-1 at home by Chelsea.
International friendlies now take centre stage with England playing Japan tomorrow (Friday) and then Norway on Tuesday. Arsenal then return to action with a mouth-watering fixture against Man United under the floodlights at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, November 19, in a 5.30pm kick-off.
