TALIA GODDESS

Talia Goddess plays the Roundhouse Rising Festival on October 4

ROUNDHOUSE Rising Festival returns next month with another exciting programme of future talent, workshops and industry events aimed at supporting new and emerging artists. The extensive programme includes: VICE presents India Shan, Loshh and Talia Goddess (Oct 4); shesaid.so presents Zanillya + Truemendous + Deto Black (Oct 6) + BBC Introducing London X Deaf Rave ft Flâneuse + Deaf Rave (Oct 7) and Risen presents Pyra + Bklava + Lulah Francs + Shakira Alleyene (Oct 8) plus more names and workshops to be announced. One of the most interesting features of this year’s festival is the focus on accessibility for the deaf community and those with sensory requirements. As well as Friday being dedicated to Deaf Rave, every Rising gig takes place with new bass flooring system Beat Blocks, which transforms sound into enhanced physical vibrations providing a new sensory experience. Plus VICE UK has teamed up with Roundhouse to offer £1 tickets to ages 30 and under – how can you miss this?

Witness a Kate Bush painting spring to life as the opening bars of Running Up That Hill creep into your mind at Chawk & Marot’s new augmented reality exhibition at Brunswick Art Gallery. The artists blend 18th-century painting techniques with digital technology to create paintings of Amy Winehouse, Prince, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix and Debbie Harry among other musicians and historical figures, that come alive through animated moving art interacting with the static works accompanied by the subject’s music and words when viewed through an app. The exhibition runs until Oct 6.

• We had to investigate the buzz at York Rise Street Party where an excitable crowd gathered for Kentish Town band 05ive06ix’s debut. There was a raw, freshness about the short set that demanded further attention but sadly, it was over all too soon. No doubt the band was delighted with their army of young fans, who seemed to know every word and almost mobbed them afterwards, leaving the host to kindly usher the hordes to step aside for the ever-talented wordsmith John Hegley – a gentle and amusing musical follow-up accompanied by a truly rocking double bass player and percussionist.

Unless we lose another royal before print, the rescheduled unveiling of David Bowie’s Walk of Fame plaque should take place this morning (Thursday, Sept 22). The plaques are coming thick and fast now, but once in place, are enough people noticing them? Once the trail extends a little further, perhaps the impact will be greater.

Experience a collective reinterpretation of The Leonard Cohen Songbook by singer Pauline Scanlon and Galway band The Whileaways in the form of Bird On The Wire as they play Union Chapel on Sept 23. Support from Etaoin. Also, the one person who knows what happened to Mary, Richard Marx, plays Union Chapel on Oct 3-4 and 6. Many have tried before and failed but will he let it slip this time?

• Eurovision almost-winner Sam Ryder plays Lafayette on Sept 26, then, on Oct 5, Betty Boo makes an appearance at the venue.

Friends and supporters of the late London club DJ Paul “Trouble” Anderson have brought together an all-star line-up of soul, funk and house music DJs and live acts to play EGG LDN on Sept 25 to celebrate his life and raise funds for a permanent mural of Paul, a memorial bench in his name and for Macmillan cancer support.
