THE London Festivals continue with Stevie Nicks (July 12), Kylie (July 13) and Stray Kids (July 7 14) plus multiple supports closing out Hyde Park’s BST festival.
Somerset House’s Summer Series beginning this week, running to July 21 with Fatoumata Diawara and Amadou & Mariam, Hak Baker, SMINO, Pattie Smith Quartet and more.
Over in Finsbury Park the festivities continue with Wireless featuring headliners Nicki Minaj, 21 Savage, J Hus, Doja Cat, special guest Future and many more.
Then, at Ally Pally, Kaleidoscope Festival is on Saturday (July 13) with Ministry of Sound Classical, Soul II Soul, The Go! Team, Antony Szmierek, Huey Morgan, Mr Scruff, Erol Alkan, X-Press 2, Artful Dodger and more plus comedy, fringe events, family activities, street food and plenty of other fun events.
• Closer to home, Somerstown Festival on Chalton Street (July 13) is headlined by Camden favourite Beans on Toast with performances from Oh! Gunquit, a hip-hop stage, beats from Dig It Soundsystem, a Bangladeshi stage, steel pan band, Camden Schools Gigantic Collective, a funfair, people’s museum, dancing and so much more.
• And Camden Market’s Golden anniversary celebrations continue with BOLO Spotlight Session ft performances from emerging musicians in association with Black Owned London (July 13); South Asian Heritage Month with the Camden Market Mela showcasing community arts, dance, food and live music (July 20); Sunday Songs with a Rock Choir (July 28) and Camden Market’s Bollywood Festival, a celebration of South Asian and Indian culture, including live music, drumming, traditional dance and food tastings (August 17). The three month-long festival celebrating will pay homage to the art, music and culture that has made Camden Market over 50 years.
• Jack Conte – co-founder of Patreon and musical duo Pomplamoose – and his high school friend Ryan Lerman, guitarist and musical director for the likes of Michael Bublé, John Legend and Ben Folds, among others, combine to create YouTube sensation Scary Pockets. Listen to their funk re-imaginings of familiar tunes at KOKO on July 12 – support from Swatkins & The Positive Agenda.
• Songwriter and producer October And The Eyes has managed to sell out every headline show to date. She plays The Shacklewell Arms on October 24.
• Perth experimental quintet Psychedelic Porn Crumpets have been capturing all the attention recently. See them at KOKO on July 16.
