IT is that time of year again, when those with an eye for an iconic moment in music get to pick out their best shots as Abbey Road Studios Music Photography awards are open for submissions. With six open categories plus three invited categories, this is your chance to get your most artistic / well-timed / carefully composed snap in front of a panel of judges including Rankin, Moses Boyd, Pooneh Ghana and Beth Ditto. Entries close on July 18 with the awards ceremony scheduled in October. Visit https://abbeyroadmusicphotographyawards.com/ for info.

And if you are looking for a start in photography, look no further than Camden Rocks at the Underworld, which is searching for photographers to document their club nights.

• Here’s another opportunity to work in the music scene, Jazz Café is looking for a new marketing manager – with the ability to attract a diverse line-up of internationally renowned acts, this one should sell itself. One series that doesn’t need talking up is the venue’s History of Pirate Radio, which began with Roni Size and continues with UKG on June 14 ft DJ Spoony + Wookie + Lady Passion + Onxy Stone; Grime & Dubstep on June 21 ft Flowdan & Slimzee + Coki + Loefah; and UK Funky on June 28 ft Crazy Cousinz + Roska + Cooly G + Marcus Nasty.

Bat For Lashes aka Natasha Khan plays Barbican on June 24 in support of her sixth studio album The Dream of Delphi released last month.

• Bristol-based artist Pem, whose new EP Cloud Work was released last week, plays The Lexington on June 14.

A little over a year after losing the irreplaceable Maxi Jazz, Faithless play their first live shows in eight years this month, borrowing Jean Michel Jarre’s set and lighting director and bringing a seven-piece band to the Roundhouse on June 14.

• For those who are not yet ready to give up their dancing days, here are two for the over-30s. Age Against The Machine are putting on a Summer Ball Boat Party on the Thames (June 14) and Club de Fromage’s daytime over 30s party takes place at Scala on June 22 – expect sing-alongs, balloons, hula, dance-offs and more.

A few for fans with longer memories: Nineties pop figure Betty Boo, Islington Assembly Hall (June 15); Dexys, Koko; An Evening with The Christians, Union Chapel (both on June 14); all-female 90s grunge band L7, Electric Ballroom (June 16) and Let Loose, Dingwalls (June 16); The Breeders, The Garage (June 23) and Mavis Staples, Union Chapel (June 24-25).

• Rob Picazo presents Southern Nights: The Story of Southern Soul, an intimate evening of live music and stories of southern soul at Primrose Hill Community Library on June 21.
