• WHILE the so-called chattering classes enjoy their orgy of schadenfreude and Tweet amusing epithets and insults at the discomfiture of Truss and Kwarteng, the real drama is going on in millions of homes across the UK.

That’s where people are struggling to feed their kids. That’s where young families are being uprooted as landlords evict them for better returns. Children are being displaced from schools as a result of this with consequent effects on their life chances.

For the politicians and smart-arse pundits on TV, it’s boom time. They’ve never had it so good! Let’s make sure that the true victims of this screw-up by the “professional” classes are given centre stage.

And though we finally heard a “sorry” from the benighted (and unwell?) PM, most of those who encouraged her have been uncharacteristically quiet.
