Fresh protests as Arsenal fans tell owner to go
Crowd of around 200 hold up ‘Kroenke Out’ placards before Europa League semi-final
Friday, 7th May 2021

ARSENAL fans let off red flares outside the Emirates Stadium and chanted for owner Stan Kroenke to leave the club last night (Thursday).
Police watched a crowd of around 200 as they held up “Kroenke Out” placards before the team’s Europa League semi-final goalless draw with Spanish team Villarreal.
Officers were on guard for any repeat of the scenes at Manchester United on Sunday where fans protesting over the ownership of their club led to a Premier League match against Liverpool being called off.
Mr Kroenke has been under renewed fire from a section of the Gunners’ support since the club’s ill-fated attempt to join a breakaway European Super League last month with some of the continent’s richest clubs.
Last night’s protest did not match the thousands who turned up last week to call for Mr Kroenke to depart.
The US billionaire and his son Josh have stated they have no intention to sell Arsenal and are committed to the club.
Arsenal have previously apologised to fans for their part in the Super League plans.
