Marble Arch mound 1

‘It is April Fools’ Day every day for the city council’

• MY blood began to simmer as I read the article in last week’s Extra about Westminster City Council rebuilding the Marble Arch Mound as a venue for marriages.

Then I realised it was April Fools’ Day. It is April Fools’ Day every day for the city council. Quote them £2million for a project and then charge them £6million. All financial scrutiny overlooked.

Suggesting other uses for the mound is foolhardy as the city council might think it’s a good idea and their ideas are financially disastrous for taxpayers.

The council leader Rachael Robathan has made pledges – easy enough to do and easy enough break – take note of our Conservative prime minister’s connection with the truth.

The mound will be gone soon and hopefully the current Conservative council with it via the local elections.
