Firms involved with the Grenfell Tower inquiry should not have immunity

Grenfell

Grenfell Tower

• HOW unedifying it is to see the firms that profited big time from work at a tower block in west London squirming as they are asked to give evidence on what exactly led to that horrific Grenfell fire with its terrible death toll.

They want immunity from prosecution otherwise they won’t say what happened. Surely to speak the truth is a duty in these circumstances when further loss of innocent lives could be at stake.

No immunity should be granted. This inquiry – along with all similar investigations, such as the one into the Chalcots tower blocks – must be conducted without fear or favour to corporate interests.

And, by the way, what has happened to the Chalcots inquiry?
