Exercise the mind…

• NOBODY can be a libertarian in a pandemic crisis, but in London the constant police/ ambulance wails every day makes one wonder why sitting on a park bench or “sunbathing” was considered verboten when the prime minister said on March 19: “We can send coronavirus packing”and on April 12: “The NHS is our greatest national asset… powered by love”.

When 250,000 went to racing’s Cheltenham Festival just before the lockdown, can one dare to question the government’s competence and honesty?

“Excuse me, sir, you are not allowed to sit and read in Hyde Park, according to the government’s guidelines,’’ a cop, told me on Saturday April 25 at 4.45pm.

“If I cross/uncross my legs and assert I’m doing calisthenic exercises for the over-70s, is that OK?”

My reading? Joseph by Mervyn Jones, on Stalin!
